As primarily a linux user, the MacOS key mapping for copy-paste is really uncomfortable. To map it more like Linux (and Windows) the general recommendation is to switch the Command and Control key, but then the switch windows (Alt-Tab on Linux and Windows) shortcut is different. The solution is to create a shortcut on MacOS for the "Copy" and "Paste" command to map to Control-C and Control-V respectively (System Settings > Keyboard > Keyboard Shortcuts > App Shortcuts).
